Tour Maras and Moray, Economic by car
This is a Full-Day Tour to Maras and Moray, two of the best destinations in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Enjoy the views of the archaeological legacy of an interesting terrace system, and see the majestic Maras salt mines that produce salt to date. On this tour, you will also have the chance to visit the Chinchero village and its famous textile market.

PRE - Departure briefing - Cusco
A day before our Maras Moray Tour, we will have a briefing headed by our Tour Guide. This talk is given to all travelers for approximately 20 to 30 minutes. It is important to attend the briefing because, at this moment, you will learn about each moment of the trip in detail. Moreover, remember that if you have any doubts before the trip this is the perfect moment to ask. At the end, you will receive the final advice before the departure, such as what to wear during the trip, how the climate in the sites you will visit, and more!
DAY 01 - Visiting the Moray Terraces & the Maras Salt Flats - Cusco - Chinchero - Salineras(Maras) - Moray - Cusco
Our transport will pick you up from your hotel early in the morning, and we will head to our first stop, Chinchero, located about 40 minutes from Cusco. This textile village is very famous and was declared a historical heritage by Unesco. Here, you can see how alpaca wool and different fabrics are processed.
After this visit, we will reach the Moray archaeological site in about 40 minutes. The site has circular terraces used for agriculture, they are concentrically superimposed taking the form of a gigantic amphitheater. The ancient populations used it to experiment with crops due to climatic variations.
Finally, we transport for 20 min to the Maras salt mines. We will have 1 hour to visit the place, and our tour guide will explain the process of extraction of salt. We will stop to take pictures, and you will have the chance to buy a pure chocolate tablet with Maras salt on the top. At the end of the journey, we will return to Cusco.

- Consider the season and time of your tour: Take into consideration that Cusco has two main seasons throughout the year. First, the dry season goes from May to October. On the other hand, the rainy season goes from November to March. We recommend you dress in layering clothes and take rain gear, comfortable shoes, sunscreen, and a hat.
- Bring water and snacks: This tour doesn’t include food. Don’t forget to bring with you your water bottle and some snacks for the road.

What is Maras and Moray exactly?
Maras is an interesting salt mines complex, which produces pink salt with traditional processes, that still working to date. On the other hand, Moray is a terraces complex, with its own rainwater storage system. The whole system allowed the cultivation of the Incas, which produced over 250 types of vegetables. this is one of the most interesting architecture and engineering legacies of the Inca civilization.
How many hours does it take to visit Maras-Moray?
The archaeological Moray site is located one at one and a half hours from Cusco City, and Maras is located within one more hour. This half-day tour will take you to both sites in just a day, and you will have your own time to explore and hear our guide’s explanation about both beautiful sites.
Is this Maras Moray Tour safe for altitude sickness?
Maras is at 3 375 m, and Moray is at 3500 m. Both are considered high-altitude sites if you are not accustomed. We strongly recommend to acclimating in Cusco City the day of your arrival, before going on tours. Nevertheless, both are safe with our team’s precautions.
