Description

This is the most amazing and exciting trip to Machu Picchu with biking and trekking we can discover lots adventures among the mountains, valleys and rivers. Crossing small villages, coca plantations, coffee and a lot of kinds of fruits. Walking on the ancient Inka trail which connects the lost cities of the Incas. We will also take a relaxing bath in the hot spring which is good for arthritis. This trip is definitely considered one of the most adventures routes to Machu Picchu. We will observe the daily living of Andean and local people. Doing these kind of trips we can contribute with local people by buying fruits, mineral water, using the local restaurants and family hostels. The trip starts very early picking you up at your hotel between 6:30 and 7:00am. We will explain to everybody the route and the program. We start our journey traveling in the direction of the Sacred Valley through Chinchero, Urubamba and Ollantaytambo. We will stop in Ollantaytambo to supply water and other supplies. Throughout this rout you can experience beautiful picturesque natural and cultural attractions. Our starting point will be Nevado Carrizales with an altitude of 4,350m at approximately 11am.

This is where we will start the descent on mountain bikes heading towards the jungle, passing through small villages, orchards, rivers and streams. We will arrive at the village of Huamanmarca at approximately 1:30pm which ends the descent on bicycles. Next we travel to Santa Maria where we stop to have lunch. After a short break we put on our protective gear helmets, vests, knee pads and gloves and start rafting. This section has difficulties of 1-4 (medium risk) with exciting rapids and some turbulence but all is supervised by our professional and experience guides. They are experts in the geography and local environment with certificates in extreme sports such as rafting. After this exciting adventure we will be transported to the town of Santa Teresa Here we will spend our first night.

  • Transfer to Abra Malaga: 3, 5 hours by bus from Cusco
  • Biking distance: 65km 40mi
  • Biking time: 3.5 to 4 hour approximately.
  • Climate: cold at the beginning of the biking and very hot in the night.
  • Máximum Altitude: 4350 meters / 14271 ft.
  • Mínimum Altitude: 1430 meters / 4691 ft.

This morning after breakfast we will continue our trip to the Hydroelectric (power plant). This part of the trek is called the waterfall day where we will pass many cascading waterfalls with one falling from 45 m above being the largest. Once we reach the Power Plant we will have some rest and eat lunch. We will continue our trip two more hours until we reach our final destination the Machu Picchu town known as “Aguas Calientes” (at the foot of Machu Picchu). We will arrive here at 5:30pm approximately, there we will spend the second night.

We will wake up at 4:30 am to have enough time to climb the steep path to MACHU PICCHU Sanctuary it takes around an hour and a half. We will enjoy the sunrise and follow our private guide within the Machu Picchu for 2hours approximately. After you can wander freely until noon. This is time to relax, take photos and climb up to Wayna Picchu summit (depending on if you have a permit to climb) or just stroll to the Intipunku or the Inca’s Drawbridge. We will return to Machu Picchu pueblo depending on the time you booked.
